About the Public Works Department:

The Public Works Department maintains and repairs city streets and alleys, storm sewers, public property and city equipment, and coordinates the maintenancce/replacement of city street lights. Its duties include street and alley repair, seal coating, street sweeping, snow and ice control and traffic sign maintenance. In addition, Street Maintenance Division maintains city street right-of-ways and parking lots by patching, paving and seal coating. Additional duties include mowing of road sides, traffic control signage and cleaning storm sewers.

The Public Works Department also performs the daily maintenance in the parks and City facilities. This includes mowing, trimming, lawn spraying, painting, installing and repairing irrigation, sweeping, mopping of floors, and numerous other work activities. Maintenance staff is responsible for the planting and care of numerous planters, landscapes and flowerbeds throughout the City. Other duties include maintenance of athletic fields, park shelters, playground apparatus, skating rinks and trails.
