Nicollet Chamber of Commerce: What and who are we.

Our forefathers recognized the need for a united business community when it came up with the concept of a Chamber of Commerce, only eight years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In 1768, The New York State Chamber of Commerce was formed, the first in America. The first local chamber was formed 5 years later in Charleston, South Carolina.

The Nicollet Area Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1977. It is a non-profit, incorporated entity supported by members’ annual dues and most recently, fundraising. Membership is voluntary and is made up of area businesses and professionals. You do not have to be a business to join; we welcome civic-minded individuals as well.

The current membership includes 60 number of businesses and 8 honorary members. With their support, we are able to be an advocate for the community, and promote the interests of Nicollet and the surrounding areas.

A strong, united business community promotes and supports a strong, united place in which to live.

Mission Statment: As an organization representing ALL business and citizen interests of the community, the primary objective is the advancement of the economic and civic well-being of the entire greater Nicollet Area.
