Nicollet is conveniently located approximately 10 miles from St. Peter, New Ulm and Mankato at the intersections of Highways 99, 14 and 111. While it’s close to large communities, it offers a friendly hometown atmosphere.

Nicollet is extremely supportive of it’s four area schools, Nicollet Public (PreK-12), Trinity Lutheran (PreK-8), Immanuel Lutheran (PreK-8) and Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School (9-12). There are many nearby post secondary education facilities including Minnesota State University Mankato (Mankato), Bethany Lutheran College (Mankato), Rasmussen College (Mankato), South Central Community College (North Mankato), Martin Luther College (New Ulm), and Gustavus Adolphus (St. Peter).

Nicollet’s churches serve the spiritual needs of its people and are an important part of the town’s social structure. Nicollet is home to two churches, Trinity Lutheran and St. Paul’s Catholic Church, also Immanuel Lutheran Church, located in rural Courtland.

Nicollet’s daycare facilities include the Nicollet Early Childhood Center (located in the Nicollet Public School) and Caring Arms Childcare. Other licensed daycare homes in Nicollet include Kari Bloemke, Kelly McAuley and Darryl & JoDee Vogel.

There are several organizations that support the community. They include the Nicollet American Legion, The Lions Club, The Nicollet Conservation Club and the Nicollet Area Chamber of Commerce.

Swan Lake, located just outside of Nicollet, is the largest shallow-water prairie pothole in the continental United States with 76 miles of shoreline. It is a sportsman’s paradise in regards to waterfowl. The Nicollet Conservation Club is located on the southeast side of Swan Lake.

The highlight of the year is Nicollet’s Friendship Days, always the last weekend in June, sponsored by the Nicollet American Legion. The weekend’s events include a Demolition Derby (Saturday), Carnival (Friday night through Sunday), a spectacular Fireworks Show Saturday evening, topped off with a Parade Sunday afternoon.
